Join herbalist Susan Staley for this class all about reishi!

Reishi is a unique herb in the sense that is it technically not an herb at all--it is a fungus! Reishi is a polypore shelf mushroom that grows on dead trees. In China, Ganoderma lucidum is the most common species of reishi and is what you find most readily available in commerce. Also called Lingzhi, this special fungi has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years and the name translates as "spirit plant. It is also known as the mushroom of immortality. And for good reason! Reishi is powerful medicine that can boost immunity, protect the liver, calm the heart, and uplift the mood. Reishi's North American cousin, Ganoderma tsugae, grows on Northeastern hemlock. It is used interchangeably with G. lucidum by many herbalists.
