Join Railyard Apothecary for our twice monthly “materia medica” classes where we share in-depth information on one of our favorite plants. These classes are meant to provide a thorough description of a plant, its history, its uses, and how to prepare it safely.

In this class we will discuss Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora), one of the most important “nervine” herbs in Western herbal medicine.  Skullcap is a great plant for relaxing both physical and muscular tension, and is also considered nourishing and rejuvenating to the nervous system.  Taking skullcap can help take the edge off a stressful day, reduce anxiety in provocative situations, or help with sleep difficulties.  This is a native plant in our region that almost anybody in our culture could benefit from.  Join us to learn more!
