Summer in Vermont sees many of us spending time in the woods, on the water or in the garden. This increases cuts and scrapes and can leave us with tick and other insect bites. In our time together we'll discuss common items you can gather for a first aid kit (think bandaids and tweezers) and then we will learn how to create herbal preparations to include in your kit (think salves and powders). And for situations where you find yourself less prepared we will work on identifying herbs commonly found growing wild here in Vermont that can be of aid with a bee sting, cut or scrape.
You will leave class with a copy of Herbal First Aid zine by raleigh l, as well as 2 or 3 items to begin your own herbal first aid kit.
Teacher bio:
Jessica is a clinical herbalist at Railyard Apothecary. She loves to spend time in the garden or with her family and friends. Jessica has been working with herbs and natural products for a couple decades and enjoys sharing with others how to incorporate plants into their daily lives.
