This class series will approach planning your herb garden starting with what you hope to harvest and reverse engineer from there. We will cover planting herbs from seed both indoors and outdoors, container gardening, gardening in a plot, as well as some ways to harvest and preserve what you grow. Each session will be 1.5 hours online with plenty of time at the end of each class for Jessica to answer individual questions.
Tuesday, February 17, 6:30-8pm
Planning Your Herb Patch - Part 1
The first in a 3-part series, in this class we will begin by dreaming about what you would like to grow this year. Starting with what you hope to harvest we will work in reverse to determine how many and what plants will be needed. We will also discuss starting seedlings indoors for transplant outside later in the spring.
Tuesday, April 21, 6:30-8pm
Planting Your Herb Patch
The second in a 3-class series, this class will focus on starting seeds outdoors, container gardening and different approaches to gardening in the ground. We will also explore the idea of weeds, and how we might come to a peaceful relationship with volunteer plants.
Tuesday, June 30, 6:30-8pm
Preserving Your Herb Harvest
The third in a three part series, this class will focus on when and how to best harvest and preserve different plants. Come with your questions and Jessica will provide a demo or two.
Jessica Churchill believes co-creating with the magic of plant kin builds a better world for all beings. As a folk herbalist she focuses on building reciprocal relationships with the plants, not just utilizing them as commodities. Practically speaking this looks like not only ingesting herbs but also working to slow down to a sustainable pace and spending time in the garden, meadow or forest. While understanding physiological workings of herbs, Jessica’s approach is energetic and spiritual in nature with a goal of building rest and resilience practices in the face of the challenges of living in modern times. Bodies are not intended to move at the pace of capitalism and Jessica works with clients to support the body and create ease and balance in their lives.
