Come join a guided walk around Burlington to visit a diverse scene of urban habitats and meet the plants that call them home. We discuss key identification characteristics, plant history and geography as well as fun facts about plants and the ruderal (urban) ecosystem. Leave with a deeper connection to your place and more friends in your path! Participants will each get a copy of the zine 'An Urban Field Guide to the Plants in Your Path'.
This walk is suitable for folks ages 10+.
Teacher bio:
Maggie Herskovits enjoys connecting with people and place. She has worked as an urban gardener in NYC public parks and private spaces, garden educator and horticulture therapist. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY she now lives in Winooski, VT where she continues her work as a garden consultant while illustrating and writing about the plants in her path.
