~Deep dive into digestion this Spring! This class is part of a series that explores different aspects of digestive health from an herbal perspective~
Your body is an integrated whole and the gut is the root of good health. Traditional healing systems going back to Hippocrates and beyond have noted that healthy digestion is the foundation for a healthy mind, body and spirit.
After taking this class you'll know the basic principles from traditional healing systems for how to optimize digestion. This includes principles around food as well as timing of eating, seasonal eating, eating habits and practices and supplementing foods with teas, spices and herbs.
We'll be drawing largely on the herbal tradition going back to Ancient Greece that was widespread in Europe and the Arab world before spreading elsewhere across the globe.
Taught by Nick Cavanaugh. Nick is a clinical herbalist at the Burlington Herb Clinic and a staff member at Railyard Apothecary. As a clinical herbalist, he works with clients in-depth on health challenges that they face, such as digestive discomfort, mental or emotional imbalance, or chronic illness. He is a graduate of the Vermont Center for Integrative Herbalism's 3-year clinical herbalist training program.
