Yarrow is our herb of the month for February! Yarrow's scientific name is Achillea millefolium (Asteraceae). This very widely distributed plant seems to be native throughout the northern hemisphere, including in North America, Asia and Europe. It has been used by many, many different cultures throughout the world for thousands of years.

It's therapeutic effects are far too long to list here, but we'll list a few. It has anti-microbial properties and stimulates circulation and sweating (mildly) making it a remedy that has often been used for immune support in the winter. It's bitter and aromatic flavors make it helpful for digestion. It also has wound-healing properties, making it a very helpful herb for first-aid. Yarrow also has been considered to have a very protective spiritual energy, and has been used for various spiritual and ceremonial purposes.

Throughout February, yarrow is available dried at 50% off the retail price and as tincture at 25% off retail price.

Join staff herbalist Julia Shaw for this class all about yarrow. We'll cover a "materia medica" about yarrow, talking about how to grow, harvest, and use this versatile plant. Then, Julia will demonstrate how to make a salve with yarrow. Participants well get to take some home with them.
