This class will take a look at the history of Puerto Rico and the maintenance of herbal medicine from the many traditions that its rooted in–Indigenous (Taíno), African, European & Asian traditions.
Nature based medicine is being reclaimed in Puerto Rico as a direct result of economic crisis. we will discuss herbs used for common ailments and share in a typical meal. Be prepared to hear the sounds and taste the flavors & see the commonalities we all share.
Cost: $25 includes food and materials.
Olga Maria Mardach-Duclerc, MSc, LAc is the owner of Earth Mama Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine.Raised in New York City by Puerto Rican-Colombian parents, Olga’s early exposure to her family’s rich cultural traditions were juxtaposed by the racism of 1970’s-80’s. Health and access to education has been a mission for Olga since the 1990’s, as an activist for liberty and medical choice.
