This class is for people who experience gas or bloating, or whose digestion is impacted by stress or anxiety.
In this class we will discuss more examples of carminative herbs and digestive nervines and try samples. We'll also talk about the different forms in which you can incorporate them into meal-time including herbal tinctures, herbal teas or even cooking with them directly in food.
Gas, bloating and discomfort are common digestive complaints that can be the result of many factors including the kind of food that we eat, our stress levels and our eating habits. The good news is that there are many herbs which can provide relief. Most often these herbs are aromatic and they can directly reduce spasm and relax the gut. Often they also not only relax the gut, but also have a broader relaxing effect on the the mind and body. Common examples include peppermint, lavender and chamomile.
Cost: $15 beginners welcome
Taught by Nick Cavanaugh. Nick is a clinical herbalist at the Burlington Herb Clinic. He has been studying and practicing herbalism since 2010 and his studies at the Vermont Center for Integrative Herbalism. Learn more about Nick's work at www.nickherbalist.com.
