Join Kara Buchanan of Spoonful Herbals for the first of 3 classes offered to learn about herbal gardening in Northern Vermont!
(Come to one, or come to all!)
In this first class, we’ll focus on growing plants from seed; which plants are best to start from seed and which are not! Many benefit from any early indoor start. We’ll discuss timing, indoor growing equipment, and special treatments. We’ll also talk a bit about seed saving and native cultivars.
Kara is a Vermont Master Gardener and has cultivated gardens and landscapes all of her adult life. She completed advanced herbal studies at Sage Mountain in 2003 and has been growing medicinal plants for 15 years at the Rooted Heart Rising garden at Rock Point in Burlington, VT, preparing and sharing their food and medicine with her community. She serves on the board of directors of Railyard Apothecary and is codirector of Spoonful Herbals, a local nonprofit educational organization offering a 6month Community Herbalism Apprenticeship Program, an Herbal CSA, and organizing Herb Mobs, to glean abundant local medicinal plants from local farms and gardens.
