Join Kara Buchanan of Spoonful Herbals to learn about stewarding an herbal garden in Northern Vermont!
We’ll discuss Kara’s favorite suggested plants to include, welcoming in the volunteering native weeds, and understanding the growing habits of some of the plant species and families you are sure to want to invite into your garden home. We’ll also cover seed starting and plant propagation techniques as well as harvesting considerations. You'll also go home with a seedling or two of your own!
Kara completed advanced herbal studies at Sage Mountain in 2003 and has been growing medicinal plants for 15 years at Rock Point in Burlington, VT, preparing and sharing their food and medicine with her community. She serves on the Board of directors of Railyard Apothecary and is co-director of Spoonful Herbals, a local non-profit educational organization offering a 6-month Community Herbal Apprenticeship Program, an Herbal CSA, and organizing Herb Mobs, to glean abundant local medicinal plants from local farms and gardens.
$15 in advance, $17 day-of.
