This workshop is offered from the perspective of two clinical herbalists who work within the Lyme community. Provided will be an overview of the infections involved, along with treatment challenges and choices faced by individuals living with chronic Lyme disease and tick-borne co-infections in the Northeast. The focus will be the growing toolbox of integrative treatment options, including the unique contributions that herbs offer for restoring health and vitality. What can be reasonably expected for healing from these infamously tenacious infections? Where can one turn for reliable information amidst so much hype and false promises? Most importantly, our intention is to provide information for those facing Lyme with the hope that they may regain some clarification and understanding of how to navigate these issues toward healthy outcomes.

Presented by Julie Mitchell and Eleanor Baron.  Julie holds a BSc degree from the College of Phytotherapy, University of Wales. She held a membership with  the National Institute of Medical Herbalists in the U.K. for two years and became a professional member of the American Herbalists Guild in 2003. She received her MSc, with honors, in Herbal Medicine from the University of Wales in 2008.  Presently, she is an adjunct instructor and clinic supervisor at the Vermont Center of Integrative Herbalism, and is employed as a standardized patient for medical education at the University of Vermont. She continues her 14 years of clinical practice, participating with the membership at Burlington Herb Clinic.

Eleanor Baron is a clinical herbalist and graduate of the Vermont Center for Integrative Herbalism's (VCIH) three-year clinical program. She offers herbal consultations in Alton, New Hampshire and VCHI's sliding scale clinic in Montpelier, Vermont, focusing her practice and studies in the area of tickborne infection and chronic illness. Eleanor's passion for working in the Lyme community as both a volunteer and a professional, as well her commitment to keeping up with research and treatment trends, evolved from personal experience dealing with chronic Lyme disease. Her work with clients begins with a deep appreciation of the human body's ability to heal itself with proper support and emphasizes a holistic approach to that support.
