Have a question about herbs? Railyard Apothecary is staffed by clinically-trained herbalists at most times, and our staff are happy to answer generalized questions about herbs. For example, what herbs support the immune system? What herbs can promote relaxation for more restful sleep? What herbs can promote better digestion?
However, if you're looking for personal advice about a specific health question, a consultation is the best option.
Walk-in Consultations Chat with one of our partner herbalists from the Burlington Herb Clinic right here at Railyard for up to 30 minutes, and we will make a custom-blended herbal formulation for you. Walk-in consultations are best suited for acute issues (things that have come up suddenly) or for simple and focused health questions. A walk-in consultation can be a great introduction to working with herbs and connecting with the clinical services offered by Burlington Herb Clinic. The cost is $1 per minute for up to 30 minutes. Availability is on a first come - first served basis when a clinical staff member is available, usually Monday-Friday 12pm-6pm. You can call or e-mail us in advance to check our availability or to schedule an introductory appointment.
Full Consultations If you are looking for long-term health support, if you're looking for new or more effective healthcare options, or are interested in optomizing your overall wellness, then a full initial consultation at the Burlington Herb Clinic is your best option. Initial consultations are two hours long, in which the herbalist will ask many questions about your symptoms, diet, health history, and much more in attempts to get a holistic picture of your health. With this information the herbalist will give advice, put together personalized herbal formulas, and co-create with you a long-term plan to improve your health. Appointmentscan be made here or by contacting the clinic at 802-540-0595 or email@example.com.

You may still be wondering: "Why consultations? Can't I just ask my question when I come into the store?"
We are more than happy to answer questions about herbs in general, their properties, how to prepare them, and what they might be used for. However, we suggest consultations for individualized advice for the following reasons:
1. Most importantly, it's a better way to serve you. Herbs are not drugs – they are not one-size fits all, and they are generally more gentle and subtle. Part of the beauty of using herbs is finding a unique herb or combination of herbs that fits the unique person. The best way for us to serve you is to talk about your story to discover what remedies would be safe and effective for you as an individual.
2. Having a consultation values our time. We are very happy to help guide you toward answers to your questions, but sometimes the store can get very busy and our staff need to help other customers. By doing a paid consultation we can set aside time to give you more privacy. This also acknowledges and values our time, education, and expertise as practitioners.
3. Safety first. With an herbal consultation, you explicitly acknowledge that the information that we're sharing with you is not medical advice nor a substitute for medical treatment, but rather education in self-care to help your body come into balance.
